Who are we?
Erik Isaacman, L.Ac.
graduated from Kenyon College with a B.A. in Cultural
Anthropology and a concentration in East Asian Studies. He moved to
Portland to study acupuncture at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine,
graduating in 2004 with a masters in acupuncture and Chinese herbal

Erik's study of Chinese language and culture began in 1988. He
first experienced acupuncture in China where, while preparing for a month
long bike tour, he became hampered by post surgical knee pain. Benefiting
immediately from this treatment he became intrigued in the medicine and
decided to explore a facet of Chinese culture which to this point,
remained foreign to him.
Erik returns often to China to continue to advance his training in both
acupuncture and Chinese herbs. He initially spent 5 months study Chinese
Herbs in the Internal Medicine Department and the Gynecology Department.
In 2007 he became an adjunct professor at the Oregon College of Oriental
Medicine. His main role is leading a group of graduates to China for
5 weeks each year, where the students further their training in Chinese
herbs and acupuncture in the local hospitals.
