Digestive Health
The digestive system is a series
of organs whose main responsibility is to bring nutrients into the
body. In Chinese theory digestion is considered the
source of all vital energy or Qi, (pronounced “chee”) that we
use on a daily basis. For us to be healthy it is
essential that our digestive systems be strong and capable of supplying
our tissues and organs with the nutrition they need.
The digestive system is a
sensitive system. Proper digestion requires time
and relaxation. Unfortunately, many of us are
eating in hurried situations with stressful schedules.
These patterns combined with improper food choices and overeating
are leading to many digestive disorders; including heartburn,
constipation, diarrhea, and more complicated diseases like ulcerative
colitis, irritable
bowel syndrome and crohn’s
disease.
At Inner Gate Acupuncture we use Chinese
medicine to diagnose and treat each patient in a unique way. This allows us to work directly with the underlying
causes of disease to create lasting results. Using
acupuncture and Chinese herbs we work to
balance and build Qi.
Acupuncture is a great
treatment for many digestive disorders. By inserting fine,
sterile needles into specific aupuncture points the mind and body
are able to relax and inflamed tissues has the opportunity to heal. Acupuncture
has a regulating effect on stomach acid secretion and intestinal
motility, offering sufferers of heartburn, constipation, and diarrhea
relief.
Chinese herbal medicine been
used for centuries to correct digestive disorders.
We use over 300 herbs in specific combinations, creating delicate
formulas that have little, to no side effects. Chinese herbs are extremely
affordable, by pharmaceutical standards, ranging in cost from $8-16 a
week. And because we work on a deep level, addressing the root of the
disease, instead of masking the symptoms, our patients heal quickly and
are not forced to take the herbs forever.
